Community Building in the Pacific Northwest
Over the years, our community has shown a profound need to provide a connection point for
spiritually oriented people, health care practitioners and those interested in alternative health care.
For over 40,000 years, indigenous people of this continent have used the talking circle as a tool for
developing community spirit.
We invite you to an evening with Heida Brenneke and Robert Lester for a traditional talking circle.
Topics for the evening will be generated from within the circle participants. Please bring your
interests and concerns to share in the circle.
When Heida and Robert met, they recognized that there was a need for a spiritual component in
healthcare and in the community. In keeping with their years of friendship, they have decided to
facilitate a traditional talking circle to develop the spiritual component in alternative healthcare in
the community at large.
Heida Brenneke
Heida comes from a Western European tradition and is strongly influenced by Autogenic Training,
a healing method originating in Eastern philosophy. She is the Founder of the Brenneke School of
Massage, which she led for 31 years.
Robert Lester
Robert has been engaged in the healing arts since 1973, when his hands were 'opened' to perform
healing work. He began to work publicly in the early 1980s and has held a private practice since
that time. While following his First Nation (Ojibway/Huron) roots, he was trained by the elders in
the Yukon Territories and Northern Alberta. He earned the rights to the ceremonies through a
Cree/Dakota elder Peeocees.
